More Secure Tax Filings Available
For anyone worried about identity theft and someone filing a false tax return in your name the IRS has announced that it is expanding its Identity Protection Pin Program. In the past you could only sign up for the program if your identity was stolen or someone filed a false return in your name. The IRS is now opening up the program to all taxpayers and you can sign up for the program starting in mid January. When you sign up for the program you will get a new pin number at the beginning of each tax year that must be used to file your tax returns, no one will be able to file a false return in your name without this pin number.
